Fr. Edward Mathias-Jones SSC

 

Fr. Edward was born and raised in Abergwili, Carmarthenshire. 

 

He studied for his BA degree in Theology and Church History at  St. Davidís University College, Lampeter.  Following his time in Lampeter, Fr. Edward worked for the Mission to Seafarers in Rotterdam.  On returning to Wales, he entered St. Michaelís College, Llandaff where he undertook a Bachelor of Divinity and a Diploma in Practical Theology.

 

Fr. Edward was ordained Deacon in 1997 by Bishop David Thomas (Provincial Assistant Bishop) in All Saints, Ammanford and commenced a curacy in Llanelli.  He was ordained priest in 1998 in St. Maryís Priory Church, Abergavenny by Bishop David Thomas.  In 1998 Fr. Edward was also admitted to SSC.

 

In 2000, Fr. Edward moved to Milford Haven where he served a second curacy in the parish of St. Katherine & St. Peter.

 

Fr. Edward was inducted as Vicar of S. Stephenís on 26 April 2004.  He is Honorary Chaplain to the Mission to Seafarers, Newport Dock, Chaplin to the Newport Branches of the Merchant Navy Association, Royal Navy Association and British Legion.  Fr. Edward is also an Honorary Chaplain to the Gwent Constabulary.
